Patty was born to parents that didn’t know what to do with her. At the age of 8, they gave custody of Patty to two talent managers by the names of John and Ethel Ross. John and Ethel were the people responsible for getting Patty into acting, but they also abused her and caused her much childhood trauma. Patty was able to get away from them in her adult years, but she was never able to escape the many demons that plagued her as a result of their abuse.
Throughout her lifetime, Patty was married to several people. Perhaps the most notable of these marriages was the one she shared with television actor John Astin. It was with John that Patty raised her first son, Sean Astin, although Patty’s undiagnosed bipolar disorder caused numerous problems during his childhood.
