Marilyn Maxwell was married three times over the course of her lifetime, though the romance that would come to define her personal life would be the long-time extramarital affair that she engaged in with comedian Bob Hope. The affair likely overlapped with all three of Marilyn’s marriages and became a sort of open secret in the entertainment industry.
Besides her affair with Bob Hope, Marilyn was also said to have had an affair with Frank Sinatra that resulted in the two becoming lifelong friends. In fact, both Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra acted as pallbearers at Marilyn’s funeral. Another famous pallbearer at the funeral was Bing Crosby, whom Marilyn had worked with on radio in the 1940s.
Although none of Marilyn’s marriages were very successful, her third marriage resulted in a child that was 15 years old when the actress tragically passed away from a heart attack in 1972. Following her death, that child went on to be taken care of by Rock Hudson, who had been a good friend of Marilyn’s. Join Facts Verse as we explore why Marilyn Maxwell was called Mrs. Bob Hope.
