The 70s was a great decade for music, cinema, culture, freedom, and life. There were so many things about the 70s that made life richer, and those of us who lived during that decade wish that certain things from that decade were still around today.
The 2000s, 2010s, and so far, 2020s certainly can’t compete with the 70s. The 80s and 90s were great, but for many of us, the 70s was the Golden Age.
Do you remember going to roller discos with your friends back during that decade? This was a discotheque where you'd get down and groovy, all while trying to maintain your balance on roller skates. Somehow, we feel the obsession with health and safety today wouldn’t allow a resurgence of roller discos!
Back then, we felt that the world was a lot safer during the 70s, and as kids, we could roam around freely without any major concerns. Sadly, few kids in the Western world have such freedoms today.
Our playgrounds weren’t also as preoccupied with safety in the 70s. Their focus was solely for kids to have fun!
But of course, it wasn’t all fun and games. We also had our fears in the 70s. While we loved going to the beach, many of us were afraid of getting into the water. There’s a particular film directed by Steven Spielberg that’s to blame for that one!
Of course, the 70s was also the decade for some of the greatest films ever made. The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, Chinatown, and many other great films were released during this incredible decade.
