My girlfriend and I went to Eagles Mere to do the toboggan ride on Super Bowl Sunday. Thankfully, there were no crowds like on the prior weekends. The toboggan ride is a local tradition and the money raised goes to regional fire departments. It began over a hundred years ago, but this was the first time in eleven years it was held. We started off gradually, building in speed, but as we crested over the steeper slope, we were surprised by how fast we went. The sled jostled back in forth in its track of ice as we shot across the frozen lake. We were both excited to finally take part in this local winter tradition.
