Ghosts Can’t Do It was directed by Bo’s then-husband, John Derek. Bo and John had met while Bo was only 16 years old and John was vacationing in the Greek Islands. He subsequently took Bo in as his live-in protégé, offering her roles in films. This mentorship may have had ulterior motives, as John announced to his then-wife that he had fallen in love with Bo when the latter was only 17. John divorced his wife, who was Linda Evans and took up with Bo. John and Bo had to stay in Europe to eschew statutory rape laws until Bo was 18.
Despite the problematic origin of Bo and John Derek’s relationship, the two remained married until John’s death in 1998.
