This is the heartstopping moment a grizzly bear sprinted at a dad and daughter before stopping just 15 yards from their car.
Justin Hayward and his daughter Lauren, 13, were driving home from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA, on May 22 when they pulled over to the side of the road to film a female bear.
Dramatic footage captured the moment the previously oblivious bear suddenly charged at the pair, eating up the ground incredibly quickly.
Fortunately Justin was able to roll up their car window before the bear stopped only a few seconds short of their vehicle.
Justin, 43, said: I dropped my phone because I was trying to get my windows rolled up. My daughter was scared. It happened so fast.
I've had encounters before in the wild with other animals so I wasn't too worried, especially because we were in our vehicle.
I was in awe of its speed and power. They're beautiful animals. I was a little sad that I couldn't get any photo reference for a future painting.
My guess was that it was protecting a cub that we couldn't see.
We were traveling home when I spotted a grizzly bear. We pulled over to photograph it because I'm a wildlife artist.
I'm not sure on the size of the sow but it was a big one considering she had just come out of hibernation.
She was probably 50 yards from us when she started to charge and stopped 15 yards short of us after coming over the burm.
