HARTFORD, Ala. A surprise visitor made its way into Hartford this weeka three-legged alligator nicknamed "Fred"prompting a coordinated and safe capture by local authorities.
According to the Hartford Police Department, the gator was discovered within city limits and safely relocated thanks to the efforts of Hartford City Utilities, the departments Animal Control Officer, Geneva County Sheriffs Deputy Lindsey, and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Trooper Jensen.
Three-legged Fred quickly became a social media sensation, with video of the capture shared in the departments Facebook comments.
Officials thanked the team for their guidance and support in handling the unusual situation safely. No injuries were reported during the relocation.
