The main vessel that was used as a backdrop for the titular Love Boat on the successful series was a real-life cruise ship by the name of the Pacific Princess. The vessel had originally been built in 1971 when it was named the Sea Venture. It was sold to Princess Cruises in 1975, and they renamed it to its more iconic name. The ship later began its tenure as the main backdrop for the titular Love Boat.
In addition to the Pacific Princess, there were six other vessels that were used as backdrops for the titular Love Boat over the course of the show’s original production run. These other ships were all members of the same Princess fleet, with the one being used the second most often being named the Island Princess.
