Soon-Yi Previn first met Woody Allen when she was 10 years old. At the time, she had been living with her adopted mother Mia Farrow for five years. According to Soon-Yi, her relationship with her adoptive mother was never good. She believed that Mia had no authentic love for her, and the actress was oftentimes abusive. On account of him being romantically involved with her mom, Soon-Yi’s first impression of Woody Allen was a negative one.
The first time that Soon-Yi ever had a positive interaction with her adopted stepfather was in the 11th grade. Soon-Yi injured her ankle, and Woody was the one that ended up taking her to the hospital. Around the same time, the two of them started attending basketball games together.
