The fact that Wolfman Jack’s program was being broadcast from Mexico meant that he could get away with including more risqué humor. Thankfully, the broadcast signal was strong enough that, even though it was being broadcast out of Mexico, the Wolfman’s program could be picked up all the way across America. This allowed the DJ to develop a national following over the course of the 1960s. Entering into the 1970s, the Wolfman was a full-blown cult figure.

In 1973, Wolfman Jack was immortalized on film thanks to his performance as a fictionalized version of himself in George Lucas’ nostalgic masterpiece American Graffiti. Following this appearance on film, Wolfman Jack continued making sporadic appearances on the screen, including appearing on the television program Married… with Children.

Sadly, Wolfman Jack passed away in 1995 at the age of only 57. The legendary DJ died of a heart attack and was survived by his longtime wife and two children. While the late Wolfman Jack remains a celebrated figure to this day, fans will have a hard time paying their respects at his gravesite due to its private nature.
