Did you know that Happy Days’ Suzi Quatro was only 14 years old when she first started performing rock and roll, and that she’s still performing it to this day? After her humble origins performing rock and roll alongside her sisters starting in the late 1960s, bassist Suzi Quatro rocketed to solo success over the course of the 1970s with such hits as “Can the Can” and “Stumblin’ In”. Suzi was inspired to start performing after seeing the Beatles on television. At the behest of her older sister, Suzi took up the bass.

Suzi and her sisters began performing around the country when they were teenagers. While most other girl bands performed pop music, Suzi and her sisters had a harder edge. It was in the early 1970s that English record producer Mickie Most discovered Suzi, who felt that the female bassist had more potential than her sisters. Mickie offered Suzi the chance to become a solo star, which was an offer that she was initially hesitant to accept because she didn’t want to scorn her sisters. However, she was later talked into it.
In 1973, Suzi became a major solo star with the release of her single “Can the Can”. The single reached the top of the charts, and Suzi is still performing and releasing albums to this day! In 1977, Suzi made a notable appearance on the sitcom Happy Days, where she played the fictional rock star Leather Tuscadero in a two-part episode. Suzi has always taken immense pride in her rock-star image, with one of her biggest role models being the late Elvis Presley.
Suzi doesn’t often get the credit that she deserves for being one of the first female rock stars ever. Perhaps this is because she has taken care of herself instead of partying. Join Facts Verse as we take a look at what happened to Suzi Quatro after Happy Days. See her today at the age of 71!
