The film was a family feature produced by Untied Artists, and it was based upon Mark Twain’s novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Jeff starred in the film as Huckleberry Finn, and he also reprised the role in the film’s sequel. Sadly, this introduction to show business went on to represent the height of Jeff’s career as an actor.
As a 20-year-old, Jeff thought that he was going to catch a break when he was cast as a young Clark Kent in Superman: The Movie. However, the role didn’t do much for his dwindling career.
