Valerie Harper played the eponymous Rhoda who starts a new life after leaving Minneapolis and returning to her native New York City. Eager to make it on her own, she soon falls in love with Joe and the two soon became one of America’s most loved TV couples.
The show soon became a huge hit. The pilot episode set a record for being the most successful TV show premiere of its time and it took a few years before the record was broken. The episode that depicted Rhoda and Joe’s wedding became one of the most watched and discussed TV episodes in American sitcom history. To this day, there are fans recalling “being at Rhoda and Joe’s wedding.”
