While these aforementioned actors have long since become best known for their portrayals of Gilligan’s Island’s castaways, there were many other stars that were considered for major roles on the series. Some of the stars considered for the series were already famous at the time that they were being considered for their roles, while others were fledgling stars that were screen testing for parts and would later become better known for other things.
Some of the most notable stars that almost got roles on Gilligan’s Island include Jayne Mansfield and Dabney Coleman. Jayne was almost cast in the role of Ginger, which would’ve been perfect casting given that Ginger was supposed to be a Hollywood diva. Jayne was already famous at the time and turned down the role because she thought it would be bad for her image.
