Some of the most memorable child stars of the 1960s were the stars of such television series as Dennis the Menace and Leave It to Beaver. Dennis the Menace was based upon the comic strip of the same name and starred young Jay North in the titular role. Jay was forced into acting at the behest of his aunt and uncle, and spent his adult years working as an advocate for child stars getting their start in the industry.
Leave It to Beaver starred Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow as two lovable brothers, and both took breaks from acting during their later years only to eventually come back in small ways.
