When Ginger was just a young girl, she was kidnapped by her father. This kidnapping occurred in the midst of a vicious custody battle and understandably tipped the battle in the favor of Ginger’s mother. Ginger’s mother was a failed actress who pinned all her hopes for stardom on young Ginger. There was also the fact of the matter that Ginger’s mother had suffered a miscarriage just before Ginger was born, which exacerbated her expectations for the child.

Ginger’s mother’s insistence that the young girl becomes a star paid off, as Ginger was a success in the world of vaudeville by the time she was a teenager. After suffering through her first failed marriage by the time that she had come of age, Ginger moved out to New York City with her mother and became a sensation on Broadway thanks to the hits Top Speed and Girl Crazy. The latter production featured an up-and-coming choreographer by the name of Fred Astaire working behind the scenes. Little did the two know that they would be working together on the screen within the next few years.

Ginger’s life ended tragically on account of her Christian Science faith, despite the efforts of her fifth husband. Join Facts Verse as we explore how the true story of Ginger Rogers’ death is way sadder than you thought.
