The PCP-drugging incident on the set of Titanic occurred on August 9, 1996. Filming of the movie had only been underway for a month or so, and the scenes being filmed were those comprising the historically set movie’s modern-day framing device. Because of this, neither Kate Winslet nor Leonardo DiCaprio was present during the incident. However, James Cameron and Bill Paxton were. According to legend, when James Cameron realized that he had been drugged, he ran through the set screaming his lungs out.
The incident occurred when an unknown party slipped some PCP into the clam chowder that was being catered to Titanic's cast and crew. The result was a night of insanity that 7 has gone down in history as one of the most memorable behind-the-scenes tales from the 1990s. Once James realized that there was no getting the PCP out of it, the director took the edge off the buzz with a bottle of Scotch.
James Cameron turned to Scotch to take the edge off his PCP high, while Bill Paxton used the ever-so-reliable bag of joints that he always keeps on his person. Apparently, they were up all night. Join Facts Verse as the Titanic cast speaks out after being drugged during production.
