Did you know that The Brady Bunch star Robert Reed had to be written out of the series’ final episode and that the series may have lasted for a few more years if it hadn’t been for some bad attitudes amongst the cast and crew? According to series creator Sherwood Schwartz, the idea for The Brady Bunch had come from five lines that he had read in the Los Angeles Times. Those five lines ended up leading to five successful seasons of a hit television series, though the show sadly came to an end after its fifth and final season for a variety of reasons. While the main reason that the show came to an end was because contracts had run out and the network wasn’t anxious for potentially costly renegotiations, there was also the matter of ennui amongst the cast and crew. In particular, series star Robert Reed had started being incredibly critical towards what he felt was a lack of creative direction behind the scenes of the show.

Robert Reed’s distaste with the creative direction of The Brady Bunch grew so great that the actor had to be written out of the show’s final episode. The final episode of the series was called “The Hair-Brained Scheme”, and Robert Reed found the episode’s plot so ridiculous that he flat-out refused to take part in it.
