All good things must come to an end. That old cliché is especially true when it comes to beloved television series from yesteryear. All in the Family was one of the most-watched shows on TV back during its initial run – and it has continued to do well in syndication ever since then.

Not only was it popular with critics and audiences alike, but it was also culturally significant. All in the Family was groundbreaking in the way that it pushed the envelope of what was acceptable to air on network shows.

It was a series that dealt with subject material that audiences weren't used to seeing and the networks were apprehensive to take on. It held a mirror up to some of the ugliest parts of society and allowed us to have a laugh about them.

Before All in the Family debuted, there was an enormously obvious gap between what was going on in the real world and what was being shown to audiences on their TV screens. The sitcom which premiered on CBS on January 12, 1971, forever changed the world of television. It was one of the first shows that attempted to address the cultural upheaval of the late-60s and early 70s head-on.

All in the Family wasn't afraid to tackle hot-button topics such as racism, homosexuality, economic disparity, war, drugs, and even abortion.

While it might not have been the greatest sitcom to ever hit the airwaves, All in the Family was certainly one that made a significant impact on the world at large.

All in the Fame eventually came to an end. After 9 seasons consisting of 205 half-hour episodes, All in the Family aired its series finale in 1979. We'll be discussing in this video the scene that took the beloved program off the air for good.
