Patty Loveless was born to a coal miner, and she had two older siblings that were both in the country-music scene. Her brother was the instrumentalist, while her sister sang. When her sister decided to get married and quit singing, teenage Patty joined the family band as her replacement. As the vocalist, Patty ended up being the most popular member of the group. A working relationship with country-music legend Porter Wagoner helped secure Patty a subsequent gig working as a backup vocalist in the Wilburn Brothers Band.

The Wilburn Brothers Band had a drummer by the name of Terry Lovelace, and he and Patty married in 1976. They remained married for a decade, during which time both of them struggled for success. Patty finally found success after their 1986 divorce, and she entered into the 1990s a star.

The biggest period of Patty’s career so far has been the mid-1990s, and it came after a corrective throat surgery that left the singer unable to perform for nearly a year. Upon her return, Patty could sing better than ever! A tragedy in the mid-2000s made Patty decide to stop performing yet again, though she resumed performing in a diminished capacity a few years later. Today, Patty can be found performing every so often, though she isn’t seen nearly as much as she used to be.
