Several different actors have played the character of James Bond since his debut in 1962’s Dr. No. The first actor to play the character was Sean Connery, who was relatively unknown at the time. The producers weren’t sure if the film was going to be big, so they didn’t have much of a budget to work with. Because of this, they had to hire a star that wasn’t going to be too expensive. They went with Sean because he was cheap and because he had charisma, and the actor still stands as the first person most people think of when they think of the character. Sean went on to portray James Bond for a total of seven films but was eventually replaced.

George Lazenby was hired in 1969 to replace Sean Connery due to a pay dispute. George portrayed the character of James Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, though Sean was brought back for the next James Bond feature after both George and the producers found themselves not getting along with one another. Once Sean was gone from the role for good, Roger Moore was brought in to replace him. Roger portrayed the character for over a decade before deciding to call it quits due to his aging features.
After Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan both performed as the character of James Bond for a time. Now, the most recent actor to portray James Bond has turned in his last performance as the character. That actor is Daniel Craig, and the producers are currently looking for someone to replace him.
