Did you know that members of The Brady Bunch’s cast could’ve almost died during filming multiple times and that stars Maureen McCormick and Barry Williams shared their first kiss during the filming of the show’s Hawaii episodes? Although The Brady Bunch prided itself on being quintessential family-friendly entertainment, this attitude wasn’t always reflected behind the scenes of the show. In fact, it seems that there were multiple times during the show’s production when the safety of its cast was the lowest priority of the series’ production team.

Given the formulaic nature of The Brady Bunch, episodes where the cast was allowed to travel outside of the Paramount Studios lot traditionally proved fun little vacations for them. However, there was one such episode that aired during the show’s fifth season that almost turned fatal for the actors. The episode was filmed at the Kings Park amusement park just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, and it was meant as a cross-promotional effort given that Paramount was a stakeholder in the company that owned the park.

During the filming of the episode, the cast had to film a scene in which they were riding a wooden rollercoaster. Before the filming of the scene was set to begin, star Robert Reed noticed that the camera set-up didn’t seem secure. The camera was mounted on the front car of the rollercoaster, and a test run proved that Robert was correct. Though a new camera set-up was created that was meant to be more secure, Robert still opted out of filming the scene.

Besides this episode of The Brady Bunch that was filmed in Kings Park, there were also three episodes of the show’s fourth season filmed in Hawaii that similarly almost proved deadly for the show’s cast. Join Facts Verse as we explore the episode that nearly killed The Brady Bunch cast.
