Even after his retirement from filmmaking, actor, and director Robert Redford remains one of the most respected Hollywood figures in the industry. Despite the immense success that Robert has found in the field of entertainment, the filmmaker has suffered through numerous struggles in his personal life. The greatest of these struggles has certainly been the death of the actor’s two sons, whom he shared with his first wife, Lola. Robert’s first child died of sudden infant death syndrome when the couple was recently married, and they subsequently gave birth to three more children that grew up to be adults.
Although Robert and Lola’s remaining three children grew up to be successful adults, one of them died tragically later on in life. Robert and Lola’s second son, James, recently passed away after battling with liver cancer for several years. Because of this, Robert has had to live through the death of two of his children, and his only two sons. Besides Robert’s two deceased sons, he also has Shauna and Amy. Shauna is Robert and Lola’s second child, and Amy is their fourth.
