A fisherman couldn't believe his eyes after he spotted a hammerhead shark thrashing around near the coast near San Luis Pass in Galveston.
Jason Schilling quickly started recording after seeing the large shark.
He said: "After a night of flounder gigging, I tried to fish in the morning for the morning bite. I heard a big splash behind me and looked back and see this big hammerhead shark almost beaching himself chasing bait/stingrays/flounder or whatever else they eat.
"But I saw half of his face come out of the water so I knew for sure it was a hammerhead shark. I pulled out my phone to see if he would come out again and those were the only two more times I saw him come out I got on video.
"After that, I didnt see him again. A lot of people get hammerhead sharks and bonnethead sharks confused. But bonnethead sharks only grow up to 4 feet."
This encounter was captured on May 22.
