Teresa Wright was hooked on acting after watching a brilliant performance of Victoria Regina. She studied at the prestigious Wharf Theater until she was ready to get on stage herself.
MGM producer Samuel Goldwyn took notice of her talent when she performed in Life with Father. They struck up a relationship that would later prove to be rocky.

Teresa was at the top of the world at the beginning of her career. The Little Foxes, Mrs. Miniver, and The Prince of the Yankees were all major successes, and the critics loved her.
That all changed when negotiations with Samuel blew up. He said she was unreasonable to work with and cut off her contract. She accepted it and said he was too hard on her.

Teresa was then left on her own, and it proved more difficult than the actress, who’d always been loaned out to different studios, had expected. No one wanted to work with a difficult actress, and her youth was starting to fade. Films weren’t the hot commodity anymore, either. Everyone else was moving to TV.

Teresa embraced the shift and made a comeback in the 50s. She got parts in everything, including shows, films, and her first love, play. That hard work helped her create a lasting legacy. She earned two stars on the Walk of Fame, a full awards shelf, a biography, and more. She’s also a beloved part of the Yankees baseball team thanks to her work in the film The Pride of the Yankees.
