While Suzanne and Joyce claim that John never tried to get intimate with either of them during Three’s Company’s filming, the same can’t be said for some of the show’s female guest stars. However, both actresses refused to name names. Both John Ritter and Suzanne Somers were married while they were working on Three’s Company. Both stars got married in 1977. John married an actress by the name of Nancy Morgan and remained with her until 1996. Suzanne married her second husband Alan Hamel, and she is still with him today! Following John’s divorce from Nancy, he married his second wife Amy Yasbeck in 1999, and the two remained together until John’s untimely death in 2003.
Although both Suzanne Somers and Joyce DeWitt maintain that John Ritter never tried to get intimate during Three’s Company’s filming, there were other things that drove the three stars apart over the course of the show’s run. Suzanne never liked how much more John was paid than she and Joyce were, so she asked for a raise several seasons into the series. The producers decided they’d rather fire her, and John took her exit from the series as a personal betrayal. Later, Joyce felt betrayed by John when he didn’t tell her about the spin-off series that he had lined up after Three’s Company came to an end.
