Steve Martin is a legendary comedian, actor, writer, musician, and performer. He was the king of stand-up comedy in the 1970s before hanging it up while he was on top. He then pivoted to movies, where he starred in a long string of hits like The Jerk, Parenthood, The Three Amigos, L.A. Story, and many more. He also developed hugely successful writing and screenwriting career.

Often these talents would cross paths, such as when he wrote the screenplay for the hit movie “Roxanne” and then starred as the movie’s lead. He became a noteworthy satire writer, penning essays for The New Yorker, as well as a notable playwright. And just when people thought they knew what they were getting from him, he abruptly called all that quits to focus on a music career. And somehow he managed to be incredibly successful at that too!
He’s won Grammy’s and has toured the world, playing with his bluegrass band, Steep Canyon Rangers. But Martin caught everyone by surprise recently when he returned to acting and producing. He created the hit show “Only Murders In the Building” in which he stars alongside Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Martin never expected to be coaxed out of retirement, but has been enjoying the ride thoroughly. And yet, according to Martin, he has no plans to continue this path once the show finally ends. He’s stated publicly that he doesn’t want to keep doing TV or movies once the show is done. And, considering how much incredible work Steve Martin has done over the years, it’s had to find fault in that decision.
He has a lovely home life with his wife and their young daughter, so it seems his focus will soon be on spending more and more time with them. In the meantime, we can all enjoy his latest work, as the second season of Only Murders in the Building is currently streaming on Hulu.
