While she’s been no stranger to controversies in the past, most of her previous missteps were in the name of pushing the comedic envelope and trying to be funny. Episodes such as the time she intentionally sang the national anthem horribly (before spitting on the ground and grabbing her crotch) as well as when she posed as Hitler, baking “jew cookies” in an oven for the Jewish site “Heeb” Magazine were at least done in the spirit of making people laugh.
Yet in more recent years it seems as if Roseanne’s attitude has turned more and more bitter, mean, and outright racist. She has had a string of controversial and conspiracy theorist-centered remarks, and it seems she’s gone off the deep end into the conspiracy theory world. This all culminated with an overtly racist tweet she made against former Obama official Valerie Jarrett, which ultimately resulted in Roseanne’s new show – a reboot of her former sitcom – getting canceled by ABC. Though the show was then restructured to include everyone BUT Barr, the damage was done to Roseanne and her career. Her legacy now includes being tossed from a show she helped pioneer because of her hateful actions.
