The Dick Van Dyke Show was one of the most influential and groundbreaking television comedies ever to hit the airwaves. It aired on CBS from 1961 to 1966 with a total of 158 episodes spanning five seasons.

The show was created by Carl Reiner and starred Dick Van Dyke as television comedy writer Rob Petrie. His wife, Laura Petrie was played by Mary Tyler Moore.

The series mainly centered around the couple's home life, but a great deal of the programs also took place in Petrie's workplace. Originally, the series was supposed to take place primarily at that locale but after Mary Tyler Moore became the breakout star of the show, more and more focus was placed on her character and Petrie's domestic life.

One of the key characters that Petrie often interacted with within the television writing room in which he worked was Sally Rogers, another television comedy writer who has been described as a woman who went 'toe-to-toe' in a man's world.

Rogers was played by actress Rose Marie, and while she certainly got her fair share of screen time, she would later admit that she was jealous over how much focus was on her cast-mate Mary Tyler Moore. In truth, she even began to resent her for it.

Join Facts Verse as we investigate why Rose Marie felt like she wasn't given the attention that she felt she deserved. You might think that The Dick Van Dyke Show was all laughs, but the truth is, it wasn't. There was quite a bit of drama behind-the-scenes when the cameras weren't rolling.
