Born and raised in Butte, Montana, O'Neill enlisted in the Navy in 1996. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a member of the elite SEAL Team Six. During his career, O'Neill participated in over 400 missions, including high-profile operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. His military service earned him numerous decorations, including two Silver Stars and four Bronze Stars with Valor.

O'Neill's most notable mission came in May 2011, when he was part of the SEAL team that carried out Operation Neptune Spear, the raid on bin Laden's compound. In 2014, O'Neill publicly revealed himself as the shooter who killed the al-Qaeda leader, a claim that stirred controversy within the military and among some of his SEAL colleagues, who criticized the breach of the SEALs' traditional code of silence.

Following his retirement from the Navy, O'Neill became a public speaker, sharing his experiences and insights on leadership, teamwork, and overcoming adversity. He also authored a memoir about his life in the Navy as well as his assassination of Osama Bin Laden. The best-selling memoir provided a much anticipated inside look at his life and career.

On Fox News, O'Neill serves as a contributor and occasional host, providing analysis and commentary on military and national security issues. His perspective is shaped by his extensive experience in special operations and his firsthand involvement in some of the most significant military actions of the past two decades. Despite the controversies surrounding his public disclosure, O'Neill remains a prominent figure in the media and veteran communities.
