Did you know that Seinfeld actress Estelle Harris waited until her three children were in school before pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming an actress and that she and the character she played on the sitcom shared the same first name? Just recently, it was announced that beloved television icon Estelle Harris had passed away of natural causes at the age of 93. Of course, Estelle was best known for portraying the character of George Costanza’s mother on the hit 1990s sitcom Seinfeld, a role which she reprised over two dozen times after first debuting during the show’s fourth season.

Before making her way into show business, Estelle Harris had already married and had several children. In fact, Estelle waited until her three kids were old enough to attend school before pursuing her dream of performing. Estelle’s first acting work came in amateur productions before she worked her way up to dinner theatre. Soon after that, the aspiring star found a good deal of success in commercials.
It wasn’t until the 1990s that Estelle Harris would finally receive the recognition she deserved. Besides her role as Estelle Costanza on Seinfeld, another role that brought Estelle Harris fame was that of Mrs. Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise. Estelle’s last work in the entertainment industry was lending her voice to 2019’s Toy Story 4.
