Christine McVie was born on July 12th, 1943, in Lancashire, England. She came from a musical background as one of her grandfathers was an organist at Westminster Abbey. Her father was also a man with many musical talents. He was a concert violinist and was also a teacher at St. Peter’s College of Education and at St. Phillip’s Grammar School. He was a music lecturer at the college and taught violin at the school.
As a result, Christine McVie grew up knowing that she wanted to play music and sing. As she was coming of age, rock music was becoming more popular and both the UK and the US were leading the world in this unique genre.
She learned the piano from a young age and in her pre-teens, she began taking music much more seriously. She also began singing in her youth and was eager to make it as part of a big rock band.
She eventually joined a band called Chicken Shack and this is the band that helped her launch her career. But when Chicken Shack met Fleetwood Mac, they made history. Christine McVie decided to join Fleetwood Mac and that was the band that would make her a rock star.
