Fans of 1980s cinema likely already know that Dirty Dancing wasn’t the first film in which Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey starred together in. That 1987 classic was preceded by 1984’s Red Dawn. Red Dawn was about a group of teenagers fighting on American soil in World War III, and Patrick Swayze played the leader of this group of teenagers. In order to prep the film’s teenage actors, the cast was put through a boot camp. During this boot camp, Patrick apparently let his position as a leader get to his head.
Patrick was apparently quite the nuisance during the production of Red Dawn, to the point that Jennifer never wanted to work with him again. When Dirty Dancing came around, Jennifer wanted to sign on to star in the picture because she felt that it was the right move for her career.
