"Toma" was an NBC series that aired from 1973 to 1974. Starring Tony Musante as a tough New Jersey police detective, the show delved into the realities of crime-fighting in a way that was ahead of its time. Despite its critical acclaim, "Toma" struggled to find a wide audience and was ultimately canceled after one season. "Longstreet" featured James Franciscus as a blind insurance investigator turned private detective. This unique premise, coupled with Franciscus' strong performance, made the show a hit with critics. However, it only lasted for one season from 1971 to 1972.
"Dan August," starring Burt Reynolds, followed the exploits of a tough detective in a small California town. While it enjoyed moderate success during its two-season run from 1970 to 1971, it has since faded into obscurity.

"Serpico" was based on the true story of Frank Serpico, an undercover New York City cop who exposed corruption within the police force. It was a popular film starring Al Pacino and then became one of the most popular 70s cop shows, though the success was short-lived. The show, starring David Birney, had a short run from 1976 to 1977 and struggled to find an audience despite its compelling subject matter. "Joe Forrester" featured Lloyd Bridges as a seasoned veteran cop dealing with the challenges of urban crime. Though praised for its realistic portrayal of police work, the series only lasted for a single season in 1975.

"Get Christie Love" broke barriers by featuring a Black woman as the lead character in a cop show. Teresa Graves played the titular character, a tough undercover detective. The show had a successful one-season run in 1974.
