She said it must not be too close because her dad was outside on his lawn mower. She went outside to see him mowing under the black dark stormy sky and told her mom that she had to take her stuff inside to keep it safe and to get their dad to come inside as well. Neither of them was phased by the tornado as her dad continued mowing.
