Matthew Langford Perry is a Canadian-American actor who was born on August 19, 1969. He is most well-known for his performance as Chandler Bing on the sitcom Friends, which was broadcast on NBC.

In addition to his role as the lead actor in the brief tv show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Luke Perry has also made appearances in a variety of films, some of which include Fools Rush In, The Whole Nine Yards, Almost Heroes, and 17 Again. Matthew Perry, like many aspiring actors, craved the attention that would come with a successful acting career. To Perry's delight, his ambition came true in 1994 when he was chosen to play the sardonic and astute Chandler Bing on Friends. Nonetheless, he appears to have received extra benefits beyond those requested.
Perry was just starting to have alcohol issues when he was cast in Friends, but he was still able to hold it together at the age of 24. By the time he turned 34, though, he had gotten himself into a lot of trouble. At his lowest moment during the Friends era, Perry used 55 Vicodin every day and weighed only 128 pounds. He never intended to become an alcoholic, but he liked how it made him feel and wanted more of it. Although drunkenness was already a regular part of his life prior to a jet ski accident that left him with injuries in 1997, the incident only served to further entrench his drinking. A prescription for Vicodin added another dimension. As a result, he began drinking excessively and regularly came to work under the influence.
But with the help of his castmates on Friends and the support of the crew, he was able to win the war on his addiction. Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing is his autobiography in which he chronicles his experience in the hopes that it would be useful to others in a similar situation.
