Marilu Henner was born Mary Lou Denise Henner was born in Chicago and had big dreams from a young age. While still in university, she decided to participate in a local production of Grease and that was enough for her to realize that she wanted to become an actress.
Marilu Henner began her acting career in plays before branching out into films. She managed to snag a few film roles in the 70s, most notably in the film Between the Lines. But her big break came when she was cast as Elaine in Taxi – a role she played across 5 seasons for a total of 114 episodes.
In Taxi, she was not only praised for her acting but she had jaws dropping with this role because of her incredible sex appeal. This sex appeal translated off camera as well as she ended up dating two of her co-stars.
After Taxi ended, she didn’t slow down and decided to focus mainly on cinema, though she never completely left her TV roots. From the early 80s to 2022, she’s been one of the most prolific actresses of her generation.
Marilu Henner also had fantastic taste in her choice of films and TV shows. While many actresses preferred to play it safe with their choice of roles, she tried her hand at comedy, romance, drama, and crime films – managing to excel in whatever genre she tried.
