Marie Windsor was born in a small Utah town in 1922. She became interested in acting at an early age and started appearing in plays with upperclassmen during her college years. After college, Marie’s parents drove her out to Hollywood to become a star. Marie found middling success in the entertainment industry upon this first trip out West, and eventually found herself in New York City after taking up an offer to perform with a touring vaudeville troupe. In the city, she found reliable work both on the radio and on Broadway.

It was via Marie Windsor’s Broadway work that she was given the opportunity to come back out to Hollywood and try her hand for a second time at becoming a star. This time, Marie found a good deal more success! One of her first big roles came as a result of 1948’s The Three Musketeers, in which she appeared alongside both Vincent Price and Angela Lansbury. By the time the 1950s came around, Marie was a reliable supporting player in films that also started to draw some positive buzz in the tabloids. Some of this came due to her trip to visit soldiers in the Korean War.

In 1956, Marie starred in Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing. This would be the highlight of the actress’s career. Sadly, Marie’s stature would get in the way of her finding any more success than that. Join Facts Verse as we explore how Marie Windsor’s height was problematic next to her costars.
