The costume that was meant for when Wonder Woman had to go in the water was initially meant to be a two-piece bikini, but it had to be changed to a full-body wetsuit once it was revealed that the bikini wouldn’t stay on. The full-body wetsuit then became one of the many variants of her main costume that Wonder Woman wore over the course of the 1970s show. Other variants included the heroine’s motorcycle suit, which was pretty much just her swimsuit with the addition of a helmet and a pair of goggles.
The first season of Wonder Woman aired on ABC, but the show was deemed too expensive to produce and canceled. CBS then picked the series up and produced its second and third seasons. The change of network came with a costume change, but this change was subtle. All of the costumes that Lynda Carter wore during her time as Wonder Woman were attractive to the eye, but none were quite as revealing as the original suit that was meant for when the character had to go in the water.
