Victor John Mature was born in 1913, in Louisville, Kentucky. He wasn’t from a show business background, and he had ancestry from Italy and Switzerland. He began his career working as a candy seller and as a restaurant owner before he decided to try his hand at acting.

He started his career at the Pasadena Playhouse which is where he also studied acting and began to master his craft. While he was honing his craft at the Pasadena Playhouse he was spotted by a talent agent who was determined to help Victor Mature become a major star.
Victor Mature also came in touch with Hal Roach who helped him move his career forward. It was Hal Roach who helped him become a star and develop himself as a leading man – later to be known as the first Hollywood Hunk.
His career went from strength to strength until the Second World War came along. This interrupted his career, and for most actors, this would be a complete ending to their careers. Yet, he resumed his career following the war and managed to continue finding success. But, it certainly wasn’t easy.
He became a huge star, and by the time he died, he was considered to be one of the first hunks of Hollywood. He managed to stand out from his competition in Hollywood and he became one of the most respected actors in his profession. He still is considered to be an inspiration for many actors today.
