On January 12th, 2023, songwriter and singer Lisa Marie Presley died from a cardiac arrest at the age of 54 at her home in California. Her untimely death has come as a shock to us all and we offer our condolences to her family. But while we grieve about her death, this is also the time to learn more about her interesting life and career.
Lisa Marie Presley was born on February 1st, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. Her mother is actress Priscilla Presley, and her father, of course, was the King of Rock, Elvis Presley who died when Lisa Marie Presley was still a child. Nevertheless, she followed her father’s footsteps and became an accomplished singer-songwriter of her own accord.
Lisa Marie Presley started her career relatively late – with her debut album being released in 2003 when she was in her thirties. Nevertheless, it was a big hit and she became a star among her colleagues and was adored by her fans. But Lisa Marie Presley’s fame didn’t just come from her success as a singer-songwriter.
She was known also for her relationships and her marriages, perhaps most notably to Michael Jackson – with whom she appeared in his music video “You Are Not Alone.” It seemed fitting that the daughter of the King of Rock was also married to the King of Pop! But their relationship was controversial, in the light of the controversies surrounding Michael Jackson.
She was married four times and also had relationships with other high-profile men. She had four children of which one, Benjamin, sadly killed himself. One of her daughters is actress Riley Keough. Her life, no doubt, had its ups and downs but it was a full life and a life with achievement and creating a legacy. Though her life was cut short, it was nevertheless a rich life and one we can all learn from.
