Barry credits his wife for much of his success and thanks her for deterring him from following the other Gibbs. Andy Gibb, 30, died of a heroin overdose, and Maurice had alcoholism issues. Barry thinks himself lucky to have married Linda since she won't let him follow in his brothers' footsteps. Barry and his wife have been faithful during their 50-year marriage despite countless opportunities to cheat. Despite being in the spotlight and surrounded by pretty young girls, Barry stayed true to his vows. His wife, on the other hand, had equal opportunities to be disloyal but did otherwise. Such great love is what has kept them together to this day.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Gibb brothers didn't get to enjoy that kind of grace. In 2006, the couple bought the house belonging to Johnny Cash and his wife, who both died in 2003. In the process of remodeling, there was a fire outbreak in the house. The couple ended up selling the house for less than they bought it in 2014. Despite being born in the United Kingdom, both Barry and Linda have lived in the U.S. since the 1970s.
