Ryan is sitting on his porch in Charlotte, North Carolina when he sees something "swimming in circles across the lake". He takes his boat out to investigate further, and finds a baby raccoon struggling in the water. Ryan saves the baby raccoon and brings it into his boat.
He steers the boat back onto the dock but the baby raccoon is reluctant to get off the boat. He ends up having to grab the raccoon off the boat himself and lets it down on some grass. The scared baby raccoon ends up hiding underneath the dock for two days without food or water.
Ryan is determined to get the distressed raccoon some help, so he has one of his friends who is experienced in rescuing animals.
