A good Samaritan kayaker saved two baby squirrels from drowning after they became stranded by flood waters.
Suzanne Hoy was walking along the banks of the Chattahoochee River, Georgia, USA, on March 27 when she spotted the critters cowering on a concrete pillar.
Dramatic footage shows the moment a passing kayaker flagged down by Suzanne paddled over to the squirrels in an attempt to rescue them.
After grabbing one of them by the collar and throwing them into a nearby dry bush, the unnamed kayaker then caught the second squirrel into the same foliage.
Suzanne said: It really touched my heart. I was so relieved and so happy at the same time after watching these babies falling off into the water, watching them holding onto dear life.
Those little squirrels had so much fight besides what they have been going through that I wasn't going to give up on them
The water got extremely high because of the heavy rainfall we had received the day before into the night.
I am not sure how long those poor squirrels were on the cement pillar.
My husband and I were going for a walk taking pictures of all the flooding when he noticed them and pointed them out to me.
I asked if there was anything we could do and he said sadly no because the water was moving too fast and too deep. I even asked if we had a ladder or something in the truck to use but we didn't.
I told him I didn't want to leave them there without doing something.
Out of nowhere my husband then gets my attention and points to the river. I thought I was seeing things when I saw the a kayaker.
I screamed at him to get his attention asking if he wouldnt mind rescuing these babies for me.
He looked at me then, then seeing how helpless they were, exhausted and soaked that he had no hesitation with helping rescue them.
I do not know the kayaker at all. It was like he just came out of nowhere and was there when I was losing all hope.
