When John Ritter passed away on September 11, 2003, his wife was devastated! At the time, John was married to second wife Amy Yasbeck. Today, after nearly two decades, Amy claims that she still has a hard time dating because being with other men only makes her miss John more. However, the widow did have a romantic fling with the lawyer she hired to help her out with the wrongful-death suit that resulted from her husband’s passing.

John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck first met during the production of the 1990 comedic film Problem Child. Specifically, they first locked eyes during a table read at the house of director Dennis Dugan. Between the two performers, Amy had far less experience comically. Because of this, she ended up turning to John for help with her comedic timing over the course of the film’s shoot. This resulted in the pair developing a real-life romance. The two continued dating over the course of the 1990s before finally tying the knot in 1999. A year before their wedding, they had a daughter.
In 2002, John Ritter got a big break when he was cast in the sitcom 8 Simple Rules. The show proved John’s first successful sitcom project since Three’s Company, though the actor wouldn’t be around for very long to bask in the series’ success. In 2003, on the fifth birthday of his and Amy’s daughter, John passed away from an aortic dissection. The doctors had misdiagnosed John’s affliction as a heart attack, which resulted in his untimely death.
