Did you know that Joe Diffie was working on a brand-new album before his recent death and that he was inspired to make his bid for country-music stardom after being laid off from his factory job? In March of 2020, esteemed country musician Joe Diffie became the first notable figure in the country-music scene to pass away as a result of complications related to COVID-19. Given that Joe’s was one of the earliest notable deaths from the virus, conspiracy theorists lined up in droves to try and prove that it was actually some other medical issue that had spelt the country legend’s end. However, the musician’s widow would go on to confirm firsthand that it was, indeed, COVID-19 that caused Joe’s death. In the wake of his passing, the late country-music legend climbed back onto the charts posthumously.

Joe Diffie moved out to Nashville, Tennessee, with aspirations of becoming a star after being laid off from his factory job in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It didn't take long for Joe to make a name for himself in Nashville. After writing a hit song for artist Holly Dunn, Joe was given his very own contract with Epic Records. Joe's first hit song was "Home", which was released in 1990. In 1993, he released his first platinum album, with that album being named Honky Tonk Attitude. Joe’s follow-up to Honky Tonk Attitude would also attain platinum status, and the artist received his first Grammy Award in 1999. Sadly, however, he didn’t find the same level of success after the 2000s rolled around.
Though Joe Diffie hadn't been a charting musician for many years by the time of his 2020 death, he was said to have been working on an album that may have proved somewhat of a comeback for the country legend. Join Facts Verse as Joe Diffie’s widow confirms his true cause of death.
