Paul Newman met and married his first wife Jackie Witte in 1949. In 1954, Paul Newman made his first appearance on the big screen, and he was a star by the end of the decade. In 1953, Paul met Joanne Woodward while the pair was working together on a Broadway play by the name of Picnic. Paul was instantly taken with Joanne, but she didn’t feel the same way.
