Jennifer Jones was born to two-stage parents, and she accompanied them and their stock company around the Midwest during her early childhood. This led to the young girl developing a taste for performing that would never lead her. Upon her coming of age, she decided that she wanted to become an actress. She ended up catching her big break after auditioning for David O. Selznick. Though she was married at the time, she would end up divorcing her first husband and marrying David soon after.
Jennifer’s breakout role was in 1943’s The Song of Bernadette, which netted the actress an Academy Award despite the fact that it was only the third film in which she had appeared in. She and David O. Selznick married in 1949. David died nearly two decades later, and Jennifer retired from acting a decade after that. After David’s death, the actress attempted suicide.
