Jack Nicklaus has been married to the same woman since 1960, and that woman's name is Barbara. Jack and Barbara have had five children throughout their marriage, and those five children have given the couple over 20 grandchildren! Sadly, one of Jack and Barbara's grandchildren met with a tragic fate that ended up changing the legendary athlete’s life for good. Many years previously, Jack had almost suffered the death of his own child.
One of Jack’s children is named Nancy, and she began suffering from some mysterious breathing problem during her childhood. It took way too long for medical professionals to figure out that it was an inhaled crayon that was causing the issue, and the experience of being left in the dark for so long inspired Jack and his wife to create the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation many years later.
