Many of the failed sitcoms of the 1970s were unsuccessful spin-offs. Spin-offs became a huge thing on television during the 1970s, and nearly every successful series resulted in at least one or two attempts by the producers to branch a character off onto their own show. Some of the unsuccessful spin-offs of the 1970s include The Ropers and Mr. T and Tina. The Ropers was a spin-off of Three’s Company that focused on the landlords from that series. Though the characters worked on Three’s Company, they failed to entertain audiences on their own. Mr. T and Tina was a spin-off of Welcome Back, Kotter featuring a character that was barely even in the latter series.

Besides those failed spin-offs, there are also plenty of original series that failed to make the grade during the 1970s. Some such series include Supertrain, which was the most expensive show ever produced at the time but sadly failed to connect with audiences. Other shows we’ll be taking a look at including Holmes & Yoyo, The Flying Nun, and The Brady Bunch Hour. Join Facts Verse as we take a look at the worst sitcoms of the 70s.
